This week at Crossing Fight School, we will have our first class in our Basics Block, a series of Longsword fundamentals lessons that will run over the course of a few weeks. This class, and the ones that follow, will be aimed at allowing newer practitioners to assess where they are in their training and highlighting whatever changes need to be made.
In this first installment, we will work on targeting, bind work, and parrying (with and without a riposte). Including all of that material into one class is a bit ambitious, but if we manage things well, we’ll get the most out of the time we have.
I intend to have each experienced fencer (who is willing) working with one of our newer people (who almost outnumber us at this point). This will assist us in running things smoothly, and will also acquaint our more seasoned fighters with teaching, which hopefully will provide insights of its own.
See you all on Sunday.
