This week at Crossing Fight School, after finishing the Zwerchhau section of Lew’s Longsword, we will be reviewing one of the most fabled and trusted hews in KDF, the mighty Schielhau. This cut serves as a single-time counter against both point-forward guards and incoming strikes, and is an essential component of the system. If you haven’t developed this cut yet, this class will provide you with a good foundation to do so.

The Schielhau has many forms, both simple and somewhat complex, but no matter the interpretation (or flavor), it has the potential to allow you to build a good portion of your offense around its use. Because of this, exploring its forms and applications in detail will most assuredly have a positive impact on your fencing.
