This week at Crossing Fight School, we will be reviewing a number of different techniques from Lew’s Longsword, beginning with the Scheitelhau, or “parting strike”. There is only one play featuring this cut, but as we will see, driving your opponent upwards can lead to other things you can take advantage of.
This class will also featuring one of the most substantive things in KDF, in my opinion, the Vier Versetzen. These techniques, although not fool-proof, can certainly help simplify our approach to the fight and allow us to control things at the onset of an exchange (to the extent that we can). To help illustrate this and other concepts, this lesson will feature a couple of key exercises which are designed to highlight these principles and bring them to the fore.
I consider this to be a very important class, and I hope everyone finds something useful in it which will benefit their training.
See you all on Sunday.
