This week at Crossing Fight School, we will resume our review of the text by Andre Paurenfeyndt, the 16th century fencing master (and personal bodyguard to Cardinal Matthäus Lang von Wellenburg 🙂).
As we are quickly finding out, there are some very good plays among what is listed in the treatise, and in many cases they are representative of provocational fencing, a subtle yet very effective way of setting the tone in a fight and controlling it from the onset. Some exercises have been put together which will hopefully illustrate the spirit of these plays and allow you to more easily incorporate them into your fighting.
See you all on Sunday.
