This week at Crossing Fight School, we will continue our study of one-handed weapons with a long-awaited dagger class. 🙂

Since the weather will be rather uncomfortable, it’s the perfect time to review a series of dagger plays from Codex Wallerstein (and perhaps other sources). In the insufferable heat, the less gear, the better, so now is the time.

Dagger fighting, aside from being one of the most fun things to do in HEMA, also affords us the opportunity to become more familiar with grappling, which often requires very good timing, footwork, and a sensing of pressure (Fuhlen). Practicing dagger for its own sake is enjoyable enough, but the fact that it can actually help train the use of other techniques with other weapons is a huge bonus.

See you all on Sunday.
